More about dogs

My cat is happy. The dogs are missing. I suspect she paid Newman to "take care of them". No, really, they ran out in the rain on Wednesday and I haven't seen them since. One dog is a stray that has been living here since July, and raised 5 pups here. One of them is one of the pups that moved next door. It was hard giving up the pups to new homes, but I did it because they couldn't all stay here. Since Blackie moved next door, I've still seen her on a daily basis and she spends most of her time with her mom. They disappeared on Wednesday. One moved to Delaware, two to Portsmouth, one to Cincinnai, and one next door. I miss them all. The cat misses them too, in that her life was more interesting when occasionally a dog jumped into bed right on top of her. She isn't hissing as much, and I think hate is an important part of a cat's world.

I've moved some blogs over

I've moved some of my stuff over from myspace, as I threatened to do before. Some, I didn't move. Some I still thought was funny, or good, and some was lame, or I can't remember some of the references in the post. But I didn't change anything, just so you know. Hey to Goober.

Ants, ants, ants!

OK. Here is the flora and fauna report from The Hermitage. Deer spotted heading towards the road this week. The biggest live beetle I have ever seen came down my chimney. It was like the Santa Claus of beetles. It was brownish yellow, half dead and not very pretty. I didn't covet it. I let it go. Spiders? Check. Orb web, wolf spiders, tiny ones that resemble black widows, but aren't. Squirrels and bunnies at the bird feeder. Blue Jays, Ruby throated hummingbirds, goldfinches, cardinals, cow birds, crows, Blue Herons in Portsmouth, Small black tadpoles, who were almost completely dry until I prayed for rain, tufted titmice, sparrows, black capped chickadees, red bellied woodpecker, frogs (heard but not seen this week), Annual cicadas, (the periodic cicadas are all dead, well the adults are), flying ants in swarms by the Ohio in Portsmouth. A gold fish in the Ohio river. Cockroaches, gnats, musca domestica, various culex, melanogaster, vespidae, water striders, bumblebees, even a couple of honeybees, which is a good sign. Groundhog! (Ever watch "How to Succeed in Business?") A couple of undetermined downy or ladder backed woodpeckers, robins, evidence of moles, crane flies but not as many as earlier in the summer, lightning bugs, chipmunk, horses, tiny ants, huge ants, aphids, treehoppers, biting flies I felt but didn't see, poison ivy, grass, ferns, boat tailed grackels, starlings, mourning doves, some bird with a blue head and a cardinal like bill. sowbugs, bean beetles, and many many more.

Myspace wants me to fornicate if it will make them a dime.

Empty Bed Tonight?
No Strings, No Commitment, No Games Find A Girl Now - Free To Americans

This is the kind of ad Myspace gets paid to run on "MY" space. I have deleted all links to the web site, of course, so don't bother clicking. My bed will NOT be empty tonight. It will be full of me. My bed is empty now, because I am not laying in it. But that's not a problem.
Tom is not my friend. And if he has a girlfriend, she just loves him for his money. Trust me. I've seen him.

I'm thinking about dumping myspace, and to that end, I'm going to copy blogs over here and delete them there.

The horses

My neighbor is borrowing my back acre of land to graze 5 horses. It is funny how this worked out. The horses need the grass, and I need the back acre to be tamed a little. They are nice horses, and I have enjoyed watching them. They have only been there since Saturday, but already the neighbor horses came over to get acquainted. The big brown male really started strutting when he saw that the other horses were watching. Head and tail held high, he started prancing back and forth along the fence. And boy was the "girl next door" impressed. In no time at all they were making out. (Nuzzling) I guess he is used to the other girls he normally hangs with. It reminds me of a Beach Boys song. "I got it bad for the new girl at school. The guys are flippin', but I'm playin' it cool..." You have to wonder how cool he was really playin' it.

Kitsch

I am horrified to find out that you can buy an entire string of "Christmas Story" leg lamps. I'm holding out for the blinky eye, bobble head, animatronic, christmas carol singing, four horsemen of the apocalypse light set, which cannot be far behind. Don't ask me for the link!..

Old people apartments

OK, so, last year when I was getting divorced and had to leave the family home, I checked out two apartment buildings in Portsmouth. One was a low income place, and I don't qualify, and the other was an old people place and I was too young. I'm sorry. You have to be 50 to live here. Well now, I'm 50, so I guess I qualify.

Today I was building at the Renn. Center for "Hello Dolly". I spent the day there, and when we were cleaning up, I took a cart we had used for lumber downstairs. The Renn. Center has old people apartments there. I took the cart downstairs and an older (70?) lady was waiting for the 'vator. As I got out she asked me if I was "moving in"? I told her no, and said "I assume you live here", as she had a personal shopping cart full of groceries. She said, "yes, I live in (apartment number)"

I guess I need to find out how much the apartments are. And I need to figure out if the lady with the personal shopping cart and the walker was hitting on me or just being friendly. I'm willing for my dating pool to extend down 20 years. I guess to be fair...
